Passive solar shading, built into the glass.

Model the performance before you commit to the specification.

What is SimShade?

SimShade is our free online simulation tool that lets you compare solutions across thermal comfort, daylight and total cost of ownership, at facade level or building level, before anything is committed. Made to help you select the right glazing and shading specification.

Run your calculations, generate a report and share it with your project team in minutes.

Dashboard

Energy and thermal performance

The performance case, already built

SimShade calculates glass and shading performance according to European standards, giving climate-based results for thermal comfort, daylight levels and energy consumption. Compare multiple solutions side by side, evaluate total cost of ownership against initial costs and generate PDF reports with full technical specifications ready to share with the wider project team.

The calculation engine has been independently validated by Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg, Germany, covering g-values, U-values and LT0 values against measurements and established simulation techniques. The results hold up under scrutiny.

Light, footprint and certification

Useful from day one of the project

In early design, SimShade helps narrow down the most relevant shading solutions before the brief is locked. Later in the process it generates calculation guidelines and data files ready to use in IDA ICE, IES VE, Climate Studio and other simulation platforms. At tender stage it produces glass and shading specifications with ready-made tender text included.

One tool. Every stage of the project.

Testimonial

Hear what other users say:

“SimShade is an easy, accessible and very relevant tool. Its ability to compare different glass and shading solutions both technically and in terms of economics gives a more holistic view of the impact that glazing choices have on the overall building performance. A great advantage is that calculations and specifications can be shared with the other parties in the building construction team.” – Carl Axel Lorentzen, Glasfakta.dk
