MicroShade lands its largest capital injection to date and reorganizes management

After completing a funding round of DKK 34 million(€4.5M) to drive the the further development of the company and with participation of all four investor groups, MicroShade's CEO, Laurits Bach Sørensen, steps up as chairman of the board and hands over the daily operations to founder and CTO Eik Bezzel.

Validated business model and technology platform
In recent years, the company has experienced great global interest and is currently working closely with some of the world's largest industry players regarding the further innovation and market expansion of the company's revolutionary solar shading solution. "MicroShade has recently gone from being a new way of thinking solar shading to having the potential to change the way we think of glass facades and architecture globally," says Laurits Bach Sørensen, and continues: "In addition, we find ourselves in a sweetspot of the massive Industry 4.0 transformation, because of how we combine the unique MicroShade membrane with our digital platform and skillset. "
With the investment, the company gets the necessary capital to expand the close business-strategic relationships that have already secured MicroShade installations in 12 countries and moved the overall solution platform to the next level. "It is therefore perfect timing for me to return the reins to the founder and principal architect of MicroShade solution vision, Eik Bezzel," concludes Laurits Bach Sørensen.

Experienced management takes over
With Eik Bezzel's accession as CEO, the close collaboration with Laurits Bach Sørensen which began 5 years ago, continues - now just in a new constellation. Together with the latest capital injection, the change in management is a natural boost to the company's sharp innovation profile. It is further substantiated by another change on the business front as Christian Lygum is promoted from partner and project manager to sales director of the company.
"As MicroShade is evolving, our growth will increasingly come through our big partners such as Saint Gobain, CSR / Viridian and NSG / Pilkington - and this is why Christian with his great international experience, which among others include the position as regional head of the façade giant Schüco, is the perfect match for managing the business expansion from here," says Eik Bezzel.

The third strong profile in the management team remains COO / CFO Sten Larsen, who with over 20 years of international high-growth in venture and private equity, provides both a strategic and operational element that is essential for supporting the accelerated business strategy as well as MicroShades many strategic partnerships.

As such, MicroShade is well-equipped to execute the established strategy from an unchanged experience base as well as a large network in the global construction industry.
